I spend a crazy amount of time and energy reading technical writing, whether it be books, blogs, source code, ebooks, etc, and for the most part I do it because I enjoy it or because I feel if I don’t learn something, I’m going to lose my job. Even then I enjoy it but there’s more cortisol involved.I’m not really sure why this collection delights me so much or why I’m excited to set it out on my desk at work and read through one of the zines while I eat lunch, but there’s something cathartic in its light hearted meta playfulness combining what looks reminiscent of something from a child’s bookshelf but actually contains a remarkable amount of little nuggets of knowledge that will turn out to be useful and easy to remember.Perhaps I’m uniquely suited to appreciate the content because I’m always hovering over the lines between being an api developer, dba, devops tech, data engineer, system architect, and system admin, and I really just haven’t gotten the time to actually learn all of these details because I haven’t specifically needed them for something yet. I also have a special place in my heart for playful artistic expression especially when juxtaposed with such drab technical tidbits of information.I look forward to more work from this artist/author/technical writer.
