I am building an outdoor kitchen and smokehouse and wanted canopy doors that open upward for ventilation and shade, but close down for stormy weather. The critical components were the gas struts that made it possible to hold the doors open without coming down on someone's head. Although I weighed the doors properly, the size and shape of the doors made choosing and installing struts a challenge. The first set I ordered did not fit properly, but customer service worked with me to select the right struts and calculated the ideal mounting points for my application. THAT made all the difference! Once you have the right struts and mounting points, installation is easy. But once those fittings snap over the ball mount, it is a HUGE pain to remove them without damaging the strut and nothing in directions help. If you run into install issues, customer service is very responsive by email.I ordered these for my tanning bed and once installed they didn’t close which meant they were slightly off size wise. Was really hoping it would fit to save me 1/2 the price of the company I bought the tanning bed fromSince the original ones on our Grand Design Momentum 397th 5th wheel didn’t lift much after we replaced the mattress, I bought these for the Hubster to install. Now the wood hopefully won’t break away again from the hinges.Took longer to unpack than to install. This was a replacement not a new install. They just clicked in place.This item is sturdier than the broken original i am replacing, but also requires more force to open. So, I had to drill a new hole in the bottom of the drawer. The slightly thicker barrel does rub on the door a little but it should be less likely to bend/break than the iriginal. 2016 Jayco 31DS.These things are great quality so far. Installed them to open my engine hatch on the boat and so far have been working out fantastic!Fit perfect on my Toyota Tundra bed cover.The gas strut were easy to install and just the right strength for my Mini Winnie door to stay open and close easily. Wish the description was better in terms of choosing the proper strength. Very happy with this product.
